Tilt and Turn Windows

Inspired by Scandinavian design, tilt and turn windows tilt inwards for ventilation
or turn so the window fully opens, as the name suggests. This cleverly designed
hinge mechanism makes tilt windows easy to clean from the inside.

Made for your home from M.R.Windows, uPVC tilt and turn windows are available in a range of colours and finishes. Select from double glazed tilt and turn windows, or upgrade to A+ triple glazing – a great energy saving choice with extra soundproofing if you live on a busy street or near a train line.

Tilt and turn windows are a good choice for family homes with small children as you can still ventilate the house without the danger of a child falling out or trapping their fingers. The contemporary styling and added ventilation also make tilt turn windows ideal for extensions and orangeries.

Advantages of Tilt & Turn Windows

Better Ventilation

The biggest benefits of uPVC tilt and turn windows are the flexibility when it comes to ventilation and how easy they are to look after. The window doesn’t need to be fully open to let air into your home, simply tilt the window open and adjust the angle. This also makes them easy to clean both the inside and outside without the use of a ladder or danger of leaning out of the window. Anglian tilt and turn window handles have a ‘safe handle’ option, which locks the handle securely when tilted inwards, preventing it from being pushed open further.

Secured by Design

Tilt and turn windows carry the Secured by Design accreditation, which means you’ll be joining the M.R.Windows homeowners who have rigorously tested windows designed to withstand forced entry attempts and protect against break-ins. Glazing and beading our windows on the inside means the glass cannot be removed from the outside. They also open fully so you can use as an emergency escape in the event of a fire.

Use your Heating Less

Tilt and turn windows are designed to keep your house warm in winter and cool in summer. Replacing your old windows with new tilt turn windows removes draughts and condensation, while also making your home more energy efficient. Our top-performing A+ rated triple-glazed tilt and turn windows are a great choice to reduce heat loss even further and reflect heat from the sun in the warmer months.

FAQ’s

What types of glass are available for windows?

You may be surprised by the number of glass options for your new windows, and it is important to understand which would be best suited for your requirements. Standard glass is called ‘Low E’ and is a great all round option for energy efficiency. Low Iron glass offers high clarity and energy efficiency. Toughened glass is five times stronger than regular glass and laminated glass, contains a plastic interlayer offering better insulation and resistance against damage.

What is double glazing?

Double-glazed windows comprise of two panes of glass that are separated by a spacer bar. The layer of air or gas sandwiched between the panes provides an insulation barrier against noise and heat loss, helping you to maintain a warmer, quieter home.

How long do windows last?

There is no reason why quality windows can’t last for the lifetime of the property if well maintained. However, not all windows are created equally, for example timber windows will require some maintenance to maintain paintwork. Invariably this comes down to personal preference lower quality windows for example may have no gas between the panes limiting their effectiveness at reducing warmth in a room. Others may use poor quality seals which perish and result in draughts after around 10 years.

What window colours are available?

At M.R.Windows we offer a beautiful range of colours and natural woodgrain finishes, so there is a perfect colour to suit every property. Colours range from the traditional white uPVC finish, through to Chartwell Green and ultra-contemporary anthracite grey or black. Add a modern twist to your windows, with dual colours, complementing the inside and outside of your home.

Does double glazing reduce condensation?

Condensation is caused by a temperature difference between the outside and the inside of the window – the colder side will attract any available moisture in the local atmosphere. It can appear on both the interior and exterior of a window. New windows really should solve the problem by reducing the exterior and interior temperature difference on the glass. The risk can be reduced further by increasing air circulation.

How does double glazing reduce noise?

Using double glazing in your home can reduce the energy of sound waves and help reduce the volume of external noise from entering your home. By coupling double glazed units with Acoustic glass you can increase sound proofing further. This can make a significant difference when you suffer with noise pollution.

How much do new windows cost?

The cost of new windows is dependent on so many factors such as style and materials. Many websites do offer lists of prices of their double glazed windows, but these are usually the cost for a basic off-the-shelf window and often without the cost of installation. At M.R.Windows, our products are made-to-measure and customised to your taste and home, which is why you won’t find a price online as there are too many contributing factors.
